What should I wear to a Fellowship/Scholarship Selection weekend? This event is at a northern Ivy League Univ.in late February. Business attire or cocktail attire is suggested for a dinner. I am 22 & a college student in sunny South Florida. My field is Earth Science, so my dress code is shorts & tanks or jeans & flannel. HELP!

What should I wear to a Fellowship/Scholarship Selection weekend?Congratulations on being invited to attend a Fellowship Selection event. You definitely want to leave your shorts and tanks in Florida when heading North in late February. Since business or cocktail attire is suggested for the dinner you can wear a little black dress (LBD) with sheer black stockings and black closed toe pumps or black closed toe sling back heels. If you want to wear pants to the dinner look for black pants in a style that flatters your figure type and wear them with a silk shirt style blouse. Add some simple jewelry for some excitement. For daytime wear pants and sweaters or blouses. Keep it simple.

Dressing for Evening Business Events
Evening business events after work are usually a little more dressy than daytime office attire. Dress on the conservative side (forget sparkly and shiny) since you will be judged by others. Your presentation might mean getting or not getting a promotion. You want to look poised and that you have good judgement at every business event.
