What is a Sabrina neckline?

What is a Sabrina neckline?A Sabrina neckline is also known as a boat neck or a bateau neckline. The Sabrina neckline was named for the neckline made famous in the 1954 movie, “Sabrina”, starring Audrey Hepburn. It is a wide neckline that goes horizontally across the collarbone. Sabrina, bateau (from the French word boat) or boat necklines on t-shirts and tops can be different widths across the shoulders. More extreme Sabrina necklines go almost to the shoulders edge. They are especially popular on cocktail, evening and wedding dresses.

Boat neckline tops will give narrow shoulders more width. If you have narrow shoulders or a triangle/pear figure shape, a Sabrina, boat neck or a bateau neckline will balance your wide hips.
