“A Prom Dress Style That’s You”

"A Prom Dress Style That's You"Flatter Your Figure Type

The prom dress style that’s for you is a dress that flatters your figure type and is in good taste. To determine a style that’s perfect for you, ask yourself what is my figure shape: triangle, inverted triangle, rectangle or hour glass? Good taste means a prom dress that fits you perfectly; not too tight, too short, and not too low.

Triangle body shapes are smaller on the top and have wider hips. If you have a triangle body shape look for prom dress styles that are off the shoulder or boat neck styles with beading or other trim at the neckline to balance large hips. Strapless and empire style dresses are terrific also for triangle figure types. Straight style skirts with these necklines will balance the triangle body shape.

Inverted triangle body shapes are larger on top. Strapless dresses are flattering on this body shape with a full or “A” line skirt. Halter style dresses are also great prom dress styles for this body shape.

Rectangle body shapes have to create a curvy look. An off the shoulder or boat style neckline with trim and an “A” line or full skirt will give this figure type a curvy look. An empire prom style dress is also flattering on the rectangular figure type.

Hour glass figure shapes are the perfect body types and look fabulous in most styles. Fitted sheaths, wrap dress styles and dresses with sweetheart necklines look awesome on hour glass figures.
