Can I go bare-legged to a cocktail party? I am over 50 & plan to wear a LBD.

Can I go bare-legged with an LBD to a cocktail party? You can go bare-legged to a cocktail party if your legs look good and your hemline reaches mid knee. Bare legs do not look great with short dresses (above the knee) on women over 50. Most knees are not great looking. Also older women look like they are trying to look trendy and young when they go bare-legged with short dresses. Instead  they appear to be older women trying to look trendy and young. Sheer black stockings or black opaque stockings look chic on young or older women with a LBD at a cocktail party. Wearing stockings always gives you a polished look. In hot humid weather bare legs are acceptable but when you are over fifty your hemline should be at mid knee or lower.
