Fashion Footwear & Legwear

  • Footwear Basics

Shoes can make or break an ensemble. In addition to choosing the right style and fit, caring for your feet and your budget are also essential considerations. Shoes are an investment therefore buy the best you can afford.

  • Shoes for Comfort

Flats are a coveted classic tweaked and revisited season after season. Flats come sophisticated, vintage, retro, and not to mention offer us ladies a comfort zone that is chic and sassy. A good constructed flat will offer you not only comfort and stability and should never feel as though you are wearing a house slipper. A modest ½ to 1 inch kitten heel or even a 1inch wedge heel raises the bar on flats from low to somewhat mid heel.
  • A Girl and Her Heels…

I love wearing heels.  There I said it. I hate wearing flats.  There I said that too! (I do recognize that there are times when heels are inappropriate....like when I was India and wore flip-flops and sandals for 5 weeks!).

  • Will You Flip?

There some wardrobe essentials that every fashion conscious woman should own. A little black dress, a trench coat for April showers, a pair of jeans for dressy occasions and one for casual getaways, and a pair of stilettos. This is just to name a few things that should be in a girl’s wardrobe.

  • Fashion Statement Legwear for the Holidays

Legwear is a great gift and a fabulous “fashion statement” to spice up an outfit for the holidays. Tights are available in many textures, patterns and colors. Did you ever think about wearing a pair of fishnet stockings over colored tights?  Might be fun to try if you have skinny legs.

  • Go Without Hose or Wear Stockings?

If you are climbing the corporate ladder stockings are a given. Sometimes cold weather may determine if you decide to put stockings on for warmth. Stockings look more polished for formal occasions if your legs are white as snow. Choose pump or closed toe sling back style  shoes with stockings or panty hose for dressy type events if you have white legs.

  • Statement Shoes: Platforms

Some platform shoe styles can add 4 or 5 inches to your height (or more?). Agreed looking taller and slender is appealing, and quite a few of us can benefit from adding a few inches to our legs. However, blurred by our long leg dream, the platforms have taken over our common sense. Perched on unstable blocks, we stomp the street unfortunately failing to realize how ungracefully we move.
  • 6 Hot Shoe Trends for Spring and Summer ‘09

Lately there have been a number of questions regarding what to wear with some of the new shoe styles. Spring 2009 is providing us with more choices in footwear than we have seen in a long time. Below are some of the shoe styles that are chic like peep-toes and platforms in fabulous colors. Before you commit to a pair of these, ask yourself, do they flatter, are they age appropriate, and are they right for the occasion. And don't forget about your budget. Keep in mind that fancy footwear (especially colors) will call attention to your lower leg area.

  • A Leg Up, When to Wear Stockings

Since most everyone is doing their own thing when it comes to fashion these days we decided to ask three experts when to wear stockings or when it is OK not to wear them.

  • Heel Heights and Hemlines for Business

I can't remember when there have been so many choices in shoe styles and hem lengths. It seems like anything goes! But not for business attire!

A general rule to follow is that lower hemlines look better with higher heels and higher hemlines look better with lower heels or flats.
