"Your top should fit close to the body and always be tucked in to the waistband"
The new high-waisted pants are a great look, and if worn correctly, really slim and lengthen the body. However, they are a big change from the low-rise pants and jeans of recent years and they require a top with some specific qualities for the whole look to be perfect.
In high-waisted pants, your body is like one triangle inverted over another triangle, with the emphasis on your shoulder line, your waist, and the flaring hem of the pants. The following looks show how to keep the focus where it should be to really rock this look.
Look 1: Short Sleeve White Blouse . This charming, crisp blouse in 100% cotton has a stand-away neck and short sleeves to keep the emphasis on the shoulder and waist. A skinny belt as shown is an ideal touch to emphasize the waist. Peep toe wedge shoes complete the look.

Look 2: Sleeveless bow-tie shoulder silk blouse style. With this spring-colored blouse, the tie accentuates the shoulder, and shows how high waisted pants can go from day to evening. A pearl belt adds a nice dressy touch.
Look 3: Striped blue and white flutter sleeve cotton blouse style. This blouse shows you can wear pattern with high waisted pants. Stripes, plaids, and smaller florals work best as they do not overpower the silhouette.
Tips to remember:
1. Your top should fit close to the body and always be tucked in to the waistband.
2. No billowy, droopy sleeves or too- low droopy necklines
3. Keep the focus on your waist, shoulder and pants hem with whatever accessories and styling you choose. Up-dos, pony-tails, small earrings, bangle bracelets and cuffs, and a heel at least 2 inches high are ideal.
