Lap Top “Security Checkpoint Friendly” Bags
|
The TSA will allow laptops to remain in bags if they meet new security checkpoint guidelines. However, not all laptop bags are checkpoint friendly. With the new “security checkpoint friendly” bags you eliminate removing your laptop computer every time you go through airport security. The bag design must allow the X-ray equipment to have a clear view of the laptop, unobstructed by pockets, flaps or extra gear like power cords. Aerovation Products, in Tipp City, Ohio was first to have these bags on the market. However, once the NY Times published an article about these “checkpoint friendly” bags they were out of stock in no time. The TSA has been training screeners to recognize and handle these newly designed luggage bags. If you are an "early adopter" and are lucky enough to have a bag already be prepared to take your computer out if the TSA trainers haven’t gotten the new standard operating procedures out to all of their screeners. The bags will be available in various styles from a basic designed protective sleeve to more complex designs. Besides Aerovation Products, Biggs & Riley and Targus plan to market the "checkpoint friendly" bags. Before you buy your bag check out the “New 'Checkpoint Friendly' Laptop Bag Procedures” on the TSA website . |
