Investing in quality is very important when choosing a handbag.  A good quality, classic handbag is a simple leather bag without a lot of ornamentation. Make sure that your handbag is well made. The stitching should be secure. The zipper should be strong enough to work properly. Fabric bags should have zippers that do not get caught in the material of the bag. A good quality handbag should last for many years.

When you buy a handbag the size is critical. The bag should be in sync with the proportion of your body. If you are small choose a bag that will not overwhelm you. Large and/or tall women can carry larger bags. Choose a handbag shape that is the opposite of your body type shape.

Round shape figures look good wearing more structured bags. If you are thin select a closer fitting handbag; they are not good if your arms and busts are large. The most flattering handbag length for most body types is a bag that hits mid torso. Experiment with different sizes and styles before you make a purchase.

Your handbag should complement what you are wearing and be right for the occasion you are wearing it for. Smaller bags look better for evening wear and a larger bag is good during the day. Fabric bags work with casual clothing.

A solid color handbag looks best with pattern or print outfits (choose one of the colors in the pattern or print of your outfit). If you are dressed in a monochromatic outfit (one color) select a handbag that matches the accessories you're wearing.

When buying a handbag, keep in mind how often you will use it and what it will go with in your closet. Being well dressed is getting everything right, especially your handbag style!
