The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, San Francisco, is one of the top farmers markets in the country. It is known for the quality and varities of its fresh farm products, plus artisan and prepared foods. Over 20,000 visitors shop for fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, breads, cheeses and jams every week. It's the place to be seen on Saturday mornings. Besides cooking classes and panel discussions to learn more about food you can see the local San Franciscan fashionistsa's shopping for their certified organic foods and flowers to brighten things up at home.

Summer fashions are universal! The streets of every country are full of the latest summer fashions. Women are wearing a lot of strapless dresses, and maxi's. Pants in all lengths are everywhere from short shorts, ankle pants to full length and everything in between. Very short skirts, ruffles and hats are other favorites. Sandals, wedges, flip flops and heels are clattering down world streets. You see alot of the color white, stripes and animal prints. Tank tops are a favorite to keep you cool.

Prada, the Italian fashion house, has introduced designs made in a number of countries by their local artisans. This spring woven leather ballerina flat shoes, woven leather handbags and two dress styles with chikan embroidery in red, blue, green or white are all made in India.

The Women of Madagascar

Our guest writer, Jeannick Minet, visited Madigascar over the holidays. She took the following pictures while in Madigascar. Jeannick reports: "Madagascar women in the streets aren't very stylish. The population is dirt poor and clothing isn't a high priority." However from the photo's of Madagascar women, women favor skirts, love color, patterns and denims. The women definitely demonstrate a creative approach to Madagascar fashion.

Eco Friendly Clothing
Clothing including, eco friendly fashion, must be first and foremost stylish. From a marketing point of view you need to first sell a great design – that the product is eco friendly is a welcomed plus for the consumer. Manuela feels that consumers will spend more money for eco fashion if they understand the benefit. Just because something’s green does not mean it is necessarily expensive, for example -- the H&M garden collection, and American Apparel eco T’s are one dollar more expensive then “standard” T's.
