Spring & Summer Fashion Trends

Lifestyle is dictating fashions today. Women are looking for wearable, relaxed, easy and affordable clothing over more formal pieces. Many are mixing inexpensive with expensive creating their own individual style. This spring the strongest trends are brilliant color, femininity, and tailored and clean Lines. At the 2011 spring / summer runway shows in NYC, Paris, & Milan there were longer skirts, wide leg trousers, blazers, thin fabrics, and trims on the runways and a lot of skin showing.

These New York ladies had to put up with a lot of heat this August. However they are keeping their cool in summer fashions like, shorts, short cotton dresses,  and maxi's. Stripes are very strong. Women are wearing strappy sandals and flip flops all over town. These pictures were taken on Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue and around Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center. The summer season is in full throttle and what better season to stock up on a pair of trendy sunglasses! This summer, celebrities are seen wearing frames that range from vintage style to sporty chic.

Summer fashions are universal! The streets of every country are full of the latest summer fashions. Women are wearing a lot of strapless dresses, and maxi's. Pants in all lengths are everywhere from short shorts, ankle pants to full length and everything in between. Very short skirts, ruffles and hats are other favorites. Sandals, wedges, flip flops and heels are clattering down world streets. You see alot of the color white, stripes and animal prints. Tank tops are a favorite to keep you cool.

This season a retro* influence was introduced into swimwear collections. “Pin Up” glamour is back. The pendulum is beginning to swing from flesh baring swimwear to a more covered up look in swimsuits. The retro style tops and bottoms are getting bigger leaving more to the imagination. Tops are larger and the new bottoms are waist high and lower on the leg than a bikini bottom (not cut to reveal too much).

Designers have designed bold patterns & print pants with stripes, zigzags, flowers and animal prints, etc. for their collections this spring & summer. The starlets are all over Hollywood wearing them. Is this a trend most women can wear and look fabulous in? Unfortunately the answer is a big NO. You have to be thin/skinny to pull off looking good in printed pants whether they are fitted or baggy. Any prints will call attention to your bottom half and add a few pounds there too. Just because something is trendy and hot doesn't suggest you need it in your wardrobe. Wear what flatters your body type. Always accentuate your positive.
