Fall is just around the corner, a time to go for a new look. We women are learning that buying clothes that work for more than one season is a great way to stretch our fashion dollars. So before you go shopping for your fall wardrobe "shop your closet"! Some things are more trendy than others every season (platform heels, peplums, etc.). The good news is that trends seem to have longer lives these days.
Hot for this fall are ladylike dresses, natural waistlines, strong shoulders, jumpsuits, tuxedo trousers, leather pants and peplums. A peplum top with trousers or a pencil skirt and cropped jacket are great looks for this Fall season. Blazer style coats, peacoats, bomber jackets and shawls are all strong outerwear trends.
The colors for fall are red, plum, burgundy, black, purple, mustard, cobalt blue, emerald green, lavender, amethyst, winter white and / or neutrals. Bold neon colors are not going away yet. Mix wine colors with autumn brights in addition to neutrals. Balance black and bright colors together. Popular fabrics this season are leather, wool tweeds, lace, angora, mohair and cashmere. Animal prints have become wardrobe classics like plaids, pinstripes, prints and patterns.
Embroidery, glitter and shine are strong. The luxe look is big. Wear a bedazzled collar or a piece of ornate, stone-embellished or bejeweled jewelry. Fur (both real and faux), military looks, and clothing that looks sporty/outdoorsy will be popular according to designers.

Adding a trendy accessory to a classic outfit is the easiest way to update your look. Handbags that mimic outfits in color and pattern and mix unlikely combinations of hardware and material are strong. Hats (baseball caps & fedora's), pointy shoes and strappy sandals are also trendy items this fall.
If a particular style flatters your figure type, is age appropriate and correct for the event you are attending it's a go. Something for everyone!
