Two Too Hot Fashion Trends for Spring 2010

Two fashion trends out for most of us but "In" for a few, good looking women with great figures are leather shorts and “dressy sweatpants. For the most that means young. .” Most women over 35 will find it difficult to pull off wearing these styles.

                              

Recently the WSJ ran stories on both hot styles. The leather shorts are being worn by Mily Cyrus and Rihanna who are fashioista idols. Longer lengths will work on the more well covered group and folks with good looking knees (an oxymoron in most cases) when available.  Retailers are stocking up on pleated, cuffed, and city short styles. According to the Journal article they are considered investment pieces by consumers. Some short styles are made with new light leather fabrics or have leather trims. Prices are all over the place from $99.00 at Zara to $3,000.++ for designer styles.

Tips for Wearing Leather shorts:
Wear with tights. These shorts are not flattering with white legs
Wear with flats, no high heels, slouchy boots, or oxford style shoes.
Wear with “T’s” or a blouse.
Top off with a boy “friend blazer.”

                                                                  

At the risk of seeming too judgemental one has to be fashioned challenged to spend $1000. on a pair of sweatpants. (Michael Kohr’s has designed a cashmere version priced at $995.00.) Presumably they are intended for more formal occasions. However the majority of women will look dumpy, silly and / or sloppy strutting around in high heels and sweatpants.

Tips for Wearing Dressy Sweatpants:
Pair with a blazer.
Wear with a dressy top.
Don high heels.
