Spring & Summer Fashion Trends 2010 From The Runways
It’s a miracle that we can pinpoint any fashion trends from the runway collections because there seems to be a little of everything.
    
Trends this spring & summer are fresh, bold, edgy, ladylike, and sexy, something for everyone! Designers showed bold shoulders, peplums, big tops over skinny bottoms, defined waists, ruffles, frills, plunging necklines and the lingerie or see through look (visible bras). There are wearable styles with draping, pleating and ruching details. Layering is still strong and asymmetrical styles (one shoulder necklines) are still in evidence from previous seasons. Hemlines continue to be all over the place from maxi-minis to mid calf lengths.
Colors are bold & vibrant. Sunflower yellows, blood oranges, aquatic teals
black & white ivory, pink, greens, silver, nude, blush, and stone are this seasons popular colors.
Fabrics that are big for spring & summer are sheer silk organzas, tulles, chiffons & chambrays. Other fabrics this spring are stretch cottons, romantic prints, crazy patterns, denim, knitwear, plus specialty fabrics, like suedesilk, ultalight leather or denim tweeds. You will see rich textured fabrics, silk patterns, lace, velvet, metallic’s, and stripes.
 Pants are all different lengths and widths however skinny legs are most popular. Harem, carrot-leg pants w/pleats and narrow ankles, cuffed shorts, linen shorts and skinny jeans are strong for the upcoming season. Dropped crotch pant styles are the most unattractive and unflattering of all.
Dresses are bright & colorful. Some are softly draped others are structured. You can’t go wrong with tunic, shirtwaist, racer back tanks and sheath styles. Prints and lacy dresses will be great to have in your closet when the weather gets warm.
Skirts are feminine like tennis wear, flanged, sarong and soft silk styles.
Blouses for spring and summer 2010 are sleeveless, transparent and / or lace. White shirts, the polo knit style and tank tops continue to be popular.
Jackets are trim, transparent and light weight. Nipped waists and flared hips are features of many styles. Boyfriend blazers, bombers, short trench coats and safari jackets are “in.”
The latest handbag shapes are trapezoids*  and pouches. Belts have a variety of buckled closures. The majority are narrow to medium width. Bright color belts are an option if you have a small waist.
 You'll see a variety of braided and tied belts also.
Shoes you name the style! You’ll be able to find any style from platforms, pumps, Mary Janes, sling backs, peep-toes, slides, loafers, ballerina flats, wedges, short boots and every type of sandal.

Trench coats, leggings and power suits are other runway favorites.
