Spring 2011 Shoe Trends

 by Yolanda Wright

Clogs - This Seasons "It" Shoe

This month let’s trance around town in some of the most stylish, edgy, and posh shoe trends for the spring. This spring’s top trends keep evolving further and further so first let’s take a look at what the runways have brought to the everyday real way.

The Clog has evolved and has been revitalized. Yep those clunky Swedish shoes have made a stronger comeback than last year and still keep going. They were defiantly the “it” shoe at the spring runways in NYC and in Paris this season. No orthopedic conscious shoe for us fashionistas, the Spring Clog is chunky, clunky, stacked, buckled, fabric, colorful studded and accessorized. These are not your traditional clogs they are peep toes, mules, and sandals. First let’s look at how Karl Lagerfeld set the trend with his witty version of the clog for Chanel:

Valentino set the stage for this spring trend - the glamorous kitten heel. The charming little shoe is dainty, pointy, sophisticated, and of course feminine. It is reminiscent of the 50’s Hollywood glamour and style. This spring pastel and earthy hues or patent and accessorized with bows or studs the kitten heel shoe is still a sophisticated little pump.

Tory Burch takes the lead in rekindling us with this resort classic. The Tory Burch - Loafer Espadrille  takes this trend to new lengths combining cool with chic.  Not only does the espadrille shoe come in flats but stiletto versions, wedges, and sandals are a great fashion forward look as well. This shoe trend exemplifies bold color trends and the strip trend so depending on the occasion espadrilles are not just for the resort anymore.
