Legwear Makes A Fashion Statement for Spring

Vibrant colors, brilliant hues and patterned stockings are making hot fashion statements this spring. Choices of patterns run the gamut from lace, spiderwebs, sheer florals, brocades, and paint spattered on hosiery to stockings that look torn.

Patterns are great with simple style/minimal clothing which is very strong now. Look for interesting designs, and/or a flattering scale to the print/pattern. But keep in mind a little goes a long way. You may want to experiment with pattern knee highs and slacks before you go all the way.

Then you can experiment with a solid color basic outfit and try a pattern stocking with the same color in it. For example a navy dress or suit and a pair of patterned stockings with navy blue in them. Another idea is combining black lace stockings or patterned black hosiery with your little black dress.

There are many subtle patterns that don’t scream look at my legs but are a fashion statement like python print stockings in brown/black, gray/black/ navy black and they look great with a basic black skirt and /or classic dress.

To wear vibrant color stockings with a solid color dress or suit you should be tall and on the slim size and young at heart or young. Wearing two colors makes you look shorter. However you can get the  "today" look wearing a complete outfit, in monochromatic colors, such as, navy, black, or gray to look taller and slimmer .

Another way to update your look this spring is to wear accessories in one color and the clothes in a complimentary color, such as, a red dress with black belt, black tights and black shoes.
