Designers Setting Fashion Trends in Eastern Europe

By Karina Kudlatova

Every part of the world has its own outstanding person. In most cases it doesn’t matter in which field he or she stands out, what matters the most is that this particular person moves the whole nation towards innovation and progress.

Slava Zaitsev

Eastern Europe has its own heroes in the fashion world and one of them is Slava (short for Vetcheslav) Zaitsev. His outrageous view on female beauty, his unique way of expressing his ideas and ways of finding an inspiration in simple things makes him one of the famous and talented people in the Russian history of art and fashion. Zaitsev’s clothes are well recognized by the ethnic designs, which demonstrate his deep knowledge of Russian history and culture. He makes clothes and complete outfits for the wife of the Russia’s President (Svetalana Medvedeva) and for the wife of the Prime Minister – Lyudmila Putina.

Kira Plastinina- is another Russian designer. Regardless of her age (she was born in 1992) she is well-known in Eastern Europe.  She has 63 Style Studios in Russia, 11 in the Ukraine and 5 in Kazakhstan. There are also 2 style studios in LA, USA as well as one in the Philippines that was opened in 2009 and one more are set to open in 2010. Her designs are something that Kira would wear herself. She describes her style as ‘casual-glam-sporty’, very teenage and very stylish. Her brand represents the best of street fashion mixed with ‘edgy’ and glamorous touch to it. From denim skirts to leatherette leggings, graphic T’s to classy dresses- she’s got it all.

Others who have indulged their lives in art, fashion and culture of Eastern Europe are: Sultanna Frantsuzova, Evgenia Ostrovskaya, Mila Kapitanova, Nina Donis, Alena Akhmadullina, Igor Chapurin and Alexsander Vasilyev.  Vasilyev launched his first collection in 2003 and became a competent member of Ukrainian Fashion Week.  Denis Simachev creates European quality designs with great Russian Spirit.

All of these designers create a visual guide that helps the rest of the world get to know the incredible and rich history of Eastern culture. Their exclusive pieces of art keep amazing and rare Russian traditions going.
