Artwear - Fantasy Footwear

Fabulous footwear has now replaced the "it bag". Designers have elevated shoe designs to an "art to wear" level pushing the envelope with creative, colorful and innovative footwear designs.

It's hard to believe that the famous fashion designer Christian Dior said "I hate fancy shoes of any description; and except for evening I don't care too much for colored shoes." He must be turning over in his grave when he sees where footwear is going.

Some brands and designers to watch are:
Nicholas Kirkwood, Noritaka Tatehana, Masaya Kushino, Gianvito Rossi, Alvaro Gonzalez, Tabitha Simmons, rupert Sanderson, Pierre Hardy, Robert Clergerie, Sergio Rossi, Christian Louboutin, Prada and Gucci.

Shoe Obsession

The Museum at FIT, NYC
February 8 through April 13, 2013

"Shoe Obsession examines our culture’s ever-growing fascination with extravagant and fashionable shoes. Accessories used to be just that—secondary to clothing fashions. Today, however, shoes have become the main fashion story, replacing the “It bag” as the most desirable accessory.  High-heeled shoes—the fashion shoes of the 21st century—have become so tall that even a 4-inch heel is considered “low.”
