Whenever I hear the word or see tweed fabrics, I automatically think of the traditional English country gentlemen or the British upper class out in the field all dressed in Purdey (English Finery).
Tweed has been trying to creep its way into the offerings of top fashion designers for awhile and this winter it has finally made it! Designers such as Marni, Paul Smith, Burberry, and Christian Lacroix have used this traditional fabric in their runway designs.
The trick to wearing tweed is not to overdo it or your outfit can end up looking tacky. As luck would have it, you only need to invest in one tweed garment: perhaps a tweed jacket to look stylish.
The great thing about a tweed jacket is that it is so versatile. For a casual look, you can wear a tweed jacket with jeans (whatever cut) and boots (UGG or leather). For a smarter look, wear the jacket with a sophisticated skirt and heels or over a sheath.
A tweed garment is another classic piece of clothing that will give you an "in style" look this season and will serve you well for many years to come.
