Fashion Going in all Directions
Lifestyle is dictating fashions today. Women are looking for wearable, relaxed, easy and affordable clothing over more formal pieces. Many are mixing inexpensive with expensive creating their own individual style. This spring the strongest trends are brilliant color, femininity, and tailored and clean Lines. At the 2011 spring / summer runway shows in NYC, Paris, & Milan there were longer skirts, wide leg trousers, blazers, thin fabrics, ruffle trims and a lot of skin showing on the runways.
   
Fabrics & Trims
Hot are romantic silks, sensuous crepes, chiffons, organza’s and lace. Classic linen, denim, and (real & faux) leathers are very popular. Slashing, piercing, and unfinished fabric edges are important trends. Popular trims are beaded tassles, fringe, ruffles and sequins.
 Colors
Color is very big and there is something for everyone. Neon hues, bold, brilliant oranges, greens, pinks, jade, reds, corals and periwinkle, are all hot plus the usual spring and summer pastels, cream, navy, black, coffee, & white.
Dresses & Skirts
Wearable shirt dresses, mini dresses, simple shifts, sheaths, halter and tunics are strong dress styles. Pleated skirts are popular. Women will be wearing long & narrow, short & layered skirts over skinny trousers.
Tops
The most popular top styles are feminine style thin/filmy blouses, macrame tops, peasant blouses, and halter tops.
 Pants
Dressy shorts, pleated trousers, silk pajamas, flared / wide legged trousers, trousers cut narrow, high waisted trousers, harem pants, dropped crotches offer something for everyone.
Jackets/Coats
Tailored coats, pea coats, dressy trench coats, are all popular this spring. Jackets were in every possible design, fencer jackets, double breasted jackets, boxy leather jackets, trim blazers, boy friend blazers, soft suede shirt jackets, cropped jackets, velvet jackets, and hooded jackets. Plus a number of designers created vests in different styles.
Suits
Suits are tailored, tuxedo style (YSL “Le Smoking” suits), some with oversized suit jackets, body suits, 3 piece suits, cocktail suits, and trouser suits, will be parading around the avenues this summer.
Hemlines
Hemlines are all over the map. Young women will not give up the sexy mini skirts. However there are more knee length, and below the knee lengths appearing.
 Shoes & Legwear – Floral leggings – slouchy leggings and some glittering with silver are “in style”. (Legwear Makes A Fashion Statement for Spring). The hottest shoe styles are brogues and flat shoes, wedges, high wooden platforms, sling back pumps, stacked heel pumps, and low heeled boots. You will see shoes with feather and/or gold trim.
