Focusing on archetypes of American femininity through dress, the exhibition will reveal how the American woman initiated style revolutions that mirrored her social, political, and sexual emancipation. "Gibson Girls," "Bohemians," and "Screen Sirens," among others, helped lay the foundation for today's American woman."

Since 2005 Sally Rosen, at the St. Vincent de Paul Society, has challenged designers and students at the Academy of Art University, Art Institute of San Francisco, and City College of San Francisco, etc. to design clothing from donations received at the Society. Besides re-inventing clothing by creating fabulous one-of-a-kind, art to wear designs this event has become an annual fund raiser for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
