The September Issue - Movie Review

Anna Wintour
Wearing Her Signature Sunglasses

"The September Issue," is a documentary about the creation of Vogue’s 2007 biggest issue ever. It also gives us a peek at Anna Wintour, the British editor, whose opinion influences the fashion world.

Surrounded by the latest fashion, we see Anna dressed in classic belted sheath style dresses, not in high fashion trendy clothes. She comes across as feminine, demonstrating good taste and favoring a conservative style. She seems to love color and prints. Mostly her dresses are topped off with cardigans, but she wears jackets once in awhile in the film.

We get a glimpse of the working relationship she has with her creative director, Grace Coddington (former glamorous model) and the admiration they have for their respective talents. In addition the film illustrates that putting together the "September Issue" looks like hard work and a very boring endeavor.

Fashion is about show business. Women are displayed in beautiful, weird, unattractive, and expensive clothing and accessories. Vogue is a strong brand and this film should increase awareness and possibly sales this fall.
