Many factors influence business success but one that is often overlooked or forgotten is physical fitness. While professional athletes have embraced fitness with a passion and dedication, the average younger executive is often “too busy” to fit in any conditioning. Just like the mind, the body needs to be challenged and pushed.
Here are several advantages of adopting a regular physical fitness plan.
1) You will probably sleep more soundly and restfully,
2) You'll be more alert during long days or long meetings,
3) Your appearance will present a more positive persona,
4) You will more successfully fight the aging process (and stay looking younger longer),
5) You will be building a healthier body that may be more resistant to infections (colds), and
6) You will generally feel much better about yourself (more self-confident).
Fitness does not have to be a time consuming or hurtful activity. The best approach to getting started is to find 15 minutes a day for some physical activity. Incorporate this time segment (before dressing, after work, before retiring, etc) into your daily schedule.
Yoga is a peaceful way to exercise and can be learned by watching a DVD. Weight-lifting, stair-stepping, running, biking, speed walking are some examples of workouts you can do away from a gym with minimum equipment. You can do the same activity every day or mix up several routines during the week. Your workouts can stress cardio-vascular improvement or can simply be aimed at toning your muscle groups.
Doing something every day for your health beats doing nothing. Give it a try for a month. After that you probably won’t want to stop. Good luck and here’s wishing you better health.
