Take Control of Your Attitude and Outlook

When times are more difficult as they are now and for the next 9 to 12 months, you need to take control of your attitude and outlook. Is the world in which work filled with problems or are these problems really opportunities to be exploited?
When your competitors or peers are "hiding" from responsibility, you have the chance to stand out even more than in good times. Be bold and energetic. Think positively and suggest how activities could be performed more efficiently. If you are in sales, show current and potential customers how you and your firm can better satisfy their needs, especially during these stressful economic times.
Remember you always have control over your own attitude and your activities. Fortunately, this should be enough to keep you in a positive frame of mind to take advantage of others who do not cope well with adversity.
Keep your mental attitude positive by reducing your exposure to the negative news and negative thinkers. Spend as much time as you can with those you know are optimistic. Reinforce your positive outlook by reading classic books on the subject, such as these recommended by Bill Stinnett:
