What's New

Be Respectful and Courteous

Be respectful and courteous (use these words and mean them: "please", "thank you", "excuse me", "I'm sorry, and "may I.")

Being compassionate, or putting yourself in the other persons shoes is a must when dealing with others. This will help you to avoid being judgmental.

Good manners start at home. Treat your spouse with compassion. Doing things for the person you love will benefit you and him (or) her a hundred fold. Don't forget to use the magic words "please", "thank you", "excuse me", "I'm sorry, and "may I."

Set aside time to be with your spouse or significant other.

Listen before speaking.

Show and / or express your appreciation on a regular basis.

More ways to show respect and consideration to others:

  1. Be on time - plan ahead to get where you are going on time. It never hurts to leave a little earlier than necessary.
  2. Turn off your electronics when you are with others (having lunch, at the theater, in other peoples home, etc.) -  It is very inconsiderate to be at lunch, or anywhere for that matter, visiting with other people and having your cell phone go off and then answering it.
  3. Do not smoke - Smoke is irritating and harmful to others.
  4. No chewing gum - This is a bad habit and looks terrible (cheap) and it is not pleasant listening to someone popping bubble gum.

The more you practice a skill the more it becomes a part of your behavior.
