About Good Manners

Etiquette is defined on Merriam-Webster's OnLine Dictionary as "the conduct or procedure required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in social or official life."

If you want to be successful in life you need to cultivate good manners.  You certainly need them if you plan on landing a good job after graduation.



Below are basic behaviors to cultivate:


Be respectful and courteous (use these words and mean them: "please", "thank you", "excuse me", and "I'm sorry, "may I."

Learn and use correct table manners.

RSVP to invitations ASAP.

Write thank you notes ASAP.

Look people in the eye when you speak to them.

Don't interrupt people when they are speaking.

Use a firm handshake when meeting people.

Don't chew gum in public.

Know business etiquette.

Cell phone etiquette is a must.
