I'm in my mid 60s and am going to attend a semi-formal affair. I have gotten a Marina lace and beaded grey dress to wear. What type of shoes to do you recommend? I will be on my feet all evening and don't want to limp by the time the evening is over

Your dress sounds great for the semi-formal affair you are attending. Wear closed toe pumps or sling back style shoes in silver or black with ultra sheer neutral stockings or silver/pewter shoes (closed toe pump or sling back style) with sheer gray stockings. Try both suggestions with your dress to see which looks best.
