What's New

I have problem skin. My face is splotchy, dry, with pits and looks like tiny broken veins are on my chin and cheek. I have tried so many different over the counter products that don't work. How do I take care of may skin and get rid of these problems?

The first thing to do is visit a dermatologist. You can ask your primary care physician for a recommendation or go to the American Academy of Dermatology website to find a skincare doctor near you. A dermatologist can be a girl's best friend. He or she can diagnose your specific problem and tell you what will work best for your problem. Think of the cost as an investment in your good looks. Because you said your skin is dry, you might want to try cleaning your face with a gentle skin cleanser instead of soap. Also, use a sponge instead of a wash cloth when cleaning your face. It can get into the crevices and is very gentle. You can find a face sponge at a beauty store. You may have to boil it before using it. Ask the salesperson if it is necessary and how long. The tiny broken veins may be eliminated with medication or treatments by the skin doctor. For pitting of the skin there aren't any over the counter products that will help. However treatments such as microdermabrasion have been found to be helpful in minimizing the condition. After you see the dermatologist and address your skin problems a proper skin care routine should keep your skin in great condition. A follow up with an aesthetician will help keep you on the right track. Keeping your skin clean, wearing a moisturizer that contains sunscreen daily, eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water are all things that help your skin to look good. You should treat yourself to a facial once in awhile and a good night sleep never hurt anyone.
