Do I have to match the jacket and skirt when dressing for work? I have a black blazer and gray skirt, but I'm not sure if it's okay for them to not match.

Separates do not have to match but they do have to look good together. You can wear a black blazer with a gray skirt, a top in black, gray, or a gray print (with black, and another color eg. red) blouse. Wear with black shoes and a black purse and you’ll have a stylish looking work outfit. A red and white, black and white, or blue and white stripe or print shirt with a gray skirt, black blazer, black shoes and black handbag will look nice for work also. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different tops.
