You have a lot of options since it is an afternoon performance. Since it is summer a cotton or linen dress or a nice skirt or pair of cotton pants (straight leg or ankle length) will work. Wear cotton top that coordinates with a skirt or pants. You can dress it up with a scarf or nice earrings and a necklace. As far as shoes go, wear a pair of flats, sandals or heels. Bring a sweater in case the theatre is air conditioned. What ever you decide to wear should flatter your figure type.
Absolutely not. Denim jeans are appropriate for gardening, hiking or work around the house. If you like the style of jeans, look for them in other fabrics like wool, velvet or silk to wear for other occasions.
