Make-Up Tips and Guidelines

  • Basic Make Up Tips

Your make up foundation should match your skin tone. Try a small amount of a yellow based foundation and a small amount of pink based foundation to see which stays neutral.  Go with the neutral one. If you prefer a smooth even finish, you should use a foundation brush (a brush for foundation application).

  • How to Pamper Yourself, Start the New Year Right

A good look in the mirror at your shape will tell you if you need to change your diet for a healthier you. If you are overweight, make a plan to lose some of those extra pounds. A few less calories and a good walk everyday will help you look and feel better. Rate the progress of your diet every month. If you have gotten away from your routine of fewer calories and exercise to lose pounds, start over. Rome wasn’t built in one day!

  • Magical Eyes

The latest trends in make up are metallics and cream eyeshadows, making matte powder eyeshadows passe'. Glittery / metallic eyeshadow is perfect for all women and will add some excitement to a holiday look without breaking the budget. These new offerings are silky smooth and the glitter shadows blend almost seamlessly with your skin. You can apply the new eyeshadows very thinly or heavier depending on the effect you are trying to achieve and they are long lasting (some claim up to 16 hours).
  • Holiday Make up and Skincare

Once again the holidays are almost upon us and with them come many social engagements that give us an opportunity to sparkle. With so many make up styles to choose from, I am always drawn to a handful of holiday looks that help inspire a festive spirit.

  • Go Bold with Brows for Fall

Eyebrows are the frames of our eyes, and there are so many ways we express our style by how we groom them. Throughout the decades women have worn their brows in looks from pencil thin to completely natural, and it can be seen as a reflection of where the fashion was at the time as well.

  • Deconstructed Make-up For A Natural Look

“Flawless” isn’t the word this season to describe makeup. Try words  like "messy", "natural" and "deconstructed". This summer's hot make up look is the natural look. This means eye shadows with creases, visible lines in lipstick, hair that is flowing and light makeup.

  • Spring and Summer Beauty Tips

Even though the weather outside still has the persona of winter, spring has officially begun and now is the time to begin to prepare our skin to be showcased once again. Here are a few of my favorite finds to get you glowing.

  • Beauty Trends

NYC fashion week has just passed, and from it come several hot new looks that are sure to be seen showing up this spring. Michael Kors debuted a natural face sun kissed with terra cotta glowing cheeks reminiscent of a day on the slopes during the spring ski season.

  • Seeing Red

Recently, some designers have reclaimed red for lips. They showed red lipsticks on their runway models when showing their collections.

  • Make Up Won’t Solve All Your Problems

A light foundation glides on smoothly. If matched correctly, it will give you a  natural look.  Applying enough powder to get the same coverage will make the skin look dry and the powder may even cake.  Use powder only as a setting product and as a touch up during the day.
