I am always finding the inspiration to create beautiful hair from many places, and the Cannes Film Festival 2011 is an exceptionally glamorous choice. This year, formal styling seems to have taken on a more detailed look especially with hair that is being worn entirely up.

Actresses such as Bryce Dallas Howard showed some texture with an otherwise classic bun / chigon by embellishing with loose french braids and hair twists. This look is a gorgeous addition to any woman’s summer wardrobe that will instantly transform it to a more elegant style for a daytime or evening event. 

The flavor of the season is definitely shaping up to be “modernizing the classics” with Gwen Stefani following suit by sporting a very up to the second version of the french twist that still incorporated her unique style by adding a soft pompadour in front. 

Finally, Rachel McAdams kept things soft with a long smooth, cascading mane of blonde hair that had the fringe tastefully styled up, away from the face and secured with pins.
